At one time of another I’m sure we’ve all heard “this one was the start of that” and whatnot. Where you were when you first saw a DJ will likely color your perception of where mixing records started. Here is a vid with some very interesting details. Mixing music is an Art as well as A Science.
Knowing what to play when is based on a number of factors including who is the audience, where you are at and when as well. Take a minute (or a few) to take a look at this.
