New Music Alert:
Chris Jasper
I posted that I would be bringing new music from the Isley Brothers’ Chris Jasper well its HERE! The track “Everything I Do” is in the rotation! You who know Funk, R&B and can feel the groove will love it! And…the lyrics are truly uplifting. Nothing like a great beat with a groove for your head and your feet.
It has that great Isley flavor to it – naturally considering Chris was a main ingredient on the creation of a number of the Isley Brothers’ biggest hits – “Between The Sheets” to mention a few – great arrangement and the groove is definitely on point.
As a side note, I have noted that a lot of today’s music is laden with a lot of “effects” everything from autotune and beyond. That’s not to say its bad or good. I just feel that everything has its place. You don’t need a hacksaw to cut a toothpick if you catch my drift.
This CD is a clean sounding compilation of Chris’ latest work and it sounds good. The production quality is something that jumped right out at me as soon as I hit the play button (okayyy..play button “icon” …gosh!). Anyone who listens will right away be reminded on how good music that can stand on its own can sound without metric tons of layered effects. This is how sound should be engineered hats off to the “boardroom gang”.
I lifted this from his Label’s site: GoldCityMusic
If you are familiar with THE ISLEY BROTHERS, then you have heard the music of CHRIS JASPER, who was primarily responsible for writing and producing all of THE ISLEY BROTHERS music during this time, including such beautiful love songs as “For The Love of You” and “Between the Sheets” and uptempo funk such as “Fight the Power.” His arrangements and instrumentation as a classically-trained musician, and his expertise on the keyboards and synthesizers, are the foundation of the legendary “Isley Brothers Sound.”
Chris is a great musician classically trained at New York’s famed Juilliard School of Music (This is the school that the TV series Fame is based on) and you will notice how he blends technology and traditional instruments to come up with a very FUNKY b sound. It will take you back and move you ahead. “Everything I Do” brings to mind another hit from his Isley-Jasper-Isley days “Caravan of Love”. This is smooth like that but the funk is on steroids. For those of you wondering how the Isleys would sound in the new millennium, take a listen. You will not be disappointed.
“Doing My Thing” is another great track and will be in the rotation very soon!
“In Your Face” has a tight vocal arrangement that sits right up front with that deep bass groove. This is a great track for those learning how to play Bass to check out…
Check out the CD Everything I Do! It’s a refreshing blend of the kind of sounds you love, the tech of today and the quality of music that tends to be lacking on the charts these days. It’s available now for download either here or CDBaby.com
Enjoy!
Next:…The fruit definitely doesn’t fall far from the tree. Micheal Jasper
