Sometimes you feel like a nut….

Sometimes you don’t.
Yanno, sometimes I just feel like chillin to some jazz or downtempo grooves. Especially when the weather is cloudy and rainy likes its been down here for what seems like forever (jeez when will it get warm again?)
I was putting together a list of some music and found myself picking a lot of tracks that I have not played in a good minute. The set is actually kinda cool. I put a number of instrumentals some newer (like Ananda Project’s “Suite Dreams” and some old like Herbie Hancock’s “Chameleon” and I didn’t skimp on that one. This is the original full version (because I like the part where the band vamps out on the groove).
There’s also a cut by Weather Report one of the super bands of Jazz Fusion. Royksopp is in there too. I also included Rhonda Smith’s “Gotta Believe” (without “Skeleton Keys” mixed in!) where you get to hear her on the bass. Listen to her and Clarke (also in this set) and you get a good idea how come many say bass players are so underrated and should be heard more.
I see that I also added some amazing vocal work as well by such artists as Anita Baker (Fairy Tales), Angelique Kidjo (“Loyole”), D-Train (“Something’s On Your Mind”) and George Duke (“Ao Que Vai Nascer” done in Portuguese. So there is some downtempo grooves as well as some Jazz of the acidic and fusion types as well as some more recent cuts but then…
sometimes I don’t feel like a layed back groove! So today a little bit of both! The set directly behind that one features more House music remixes starting off with Housin’ Funk Parliament (can you name the old school classic this song is based on? Here’s a hint “Open Sesame”). During this set you will also here (as usual) never before heard anywhere else “inter”mixes of such artists as Joshua Heath, Urban Soul, Jay Tripwire, Viola, Marvin Gaye, Cricco Castelli and about 40 other artists.
Both sets are over four hours long and they start 12AM Eastern Wednesday morning and play all day. With some Jazz, Reggae, R&B, World Beat, Fusion, downtempo chill beats and a good dose of House Music, there’s plenty of music from across the planet for you on a HumpDay. Because we all have to get over the hump. yanno? Check it out!
Peace,
